Acid Patch Kids "All The Rules"
“All The Rules” features a mid-tempo verse that gets absolutely annihilated by an aggressive chorus with shouted gang vocals. The track switches effortlessly back and forth between energies before entering a building end section. The production is DIY and devoid of much reverb, resulting in a close and personal feel. To hear more from Acid Patch Kids check out their new album “Diaper Man.”
Combat Star "Learn to Die"
“Learn to Die” features a nostalgic, washed out guitar tone and glitchy drum samples. Something about the mix is reminiscent of pop music from the 80’s. The vocals are equally washed out and ominous. The song has a fascinating broken down quality to it, feeling raw and powerful. This track comes from Combat Stars album “Broken Rekord.”
Sentenced 2 Die "Bestial Deformity"
Deep, gutteral guitar chugging contrast against sizzling guitar squeaks and menacing vocal growls. This is “Bestial Deformity,” the latest release from Sentenced 2 Die. The song is a sickening journey into the realms of death and black metal. Powerful and agressive, the track has a level of spooky gravitas rarely matched by bands of this genre. To hear more from the group check out the rest of their “Spring Promo ‘22” release.
Sleeping Jesus "Running Backwards”
“Running Backwards” is a gorgeous piece of indie pop. Fuzzy bass, glistening guitars and shimmering synth pads run underneath a lo-fi vocal. The song sounds nostalgic yet modern, resulting in a really comforting and pleasant listen. The song has a relaxed tempo and a fantastic finish. Be sure to check out the band’s latest single “Outside.”
Samantha Grimes "Black Eyeliner"
“Black Eyeliner” is a moody pop track with dark overtones. The song is vocal-forward with Grimes’ lyrics featured prominently in the limelight. The instrumental, particularly on the refrain, is reminiscent of early 2000’s pop music. The production here is top notch, allowing every instrument space to shine. This is Samantha Grimes first release of 2022.
Rat Castle Jazz Ensemble "All I Want"
“All I Want” is a dreamy tune that draws inspiration from the sounds of the 60’s and 70’s. The track features melancholy guitar chords and a lazy drum beat interspersed with glistening rhodes. The vocal melodies are full of harmonies and give off a chill demeanor. The song is infectious, with its catchy hook “give me your love, it’s all I want.” This is the band’s second single release.
